Crockpot Roast

I rarely follow recipes. Most of the time I cook according to what I am in the mood for that day. I can give you estimates of what I put in the Crockpot for the roast shown in the above picture.

1 lb baby carrots
6 medium sized potatoes, cut into chucks
1 medium sized onion, quartered and sliced
1 beef roast, I don’t remember the weight of the roast
2-3 Tbsp. Sadaf Beef Flavor Soup & Seasoning Mix (you can also use beef boullion)
garlic or garlic powder to taste
salt to taste
pepper to taste
water, to cover everything

Put everything in the crockpot, with the roast on the bottom. Once the vegetables are tender I put some of the broth in a cup and mixed in some cornstarch to make a runny paste. (How much you use really depends on how thick you want your sauce. It probably takes some experimenting to find what works best for your family. The cornstarch will thicken up the broth, which is what I prefer. I like using cornstarch better for make a sauce/gravy, it seems to be easier to work with and clumps less then a flour mixture.) I then let it cook until the broth is the thickness I want. Usaully I would cook this on low for 8 hours, however I started later in the day so I cooked it on high for about 4 hours.
